The Ortofon 2M Blue is a complete Moving Magnet cartridge for vinyl enthusiasts looking to retrieve more detail, openness and spatial information from their records. Its nude elliptical diamond follows the groove more accurately than a conventional bonded elliptical stylus. This makes subtle tonal variations, transients and spatial cues easier to hear. Compared with the 2M Red, the 2M Blue offers greater resolution and a more open presentation while retaining an engaging and well-balanced musical character.
The quad-coil motor uses split pole pins and OFC copper wire to support a smooth frequency response. Its 5.5 mV output allows the cartridge to be connected directly to a conventional MM phono input. The standard half-inch mounting system makes the 2M Blue suitable for a wide range of modern and classic turntables.

Set the tracking force to the recommended 1.8 grams and align the cartridge carefully according to your tonearm's geometry. Use an MM phono input with a 47 kΩ load and a total capacitance of 150 to 300 pF. Accurate installation is essential for good channel balance, low distortion and even wear of both the stylus and your records.
This is the complete standard 2M Blue cartridge with a half-inch mounting system. It is not a replacement stylus and is not supplied pre-mounted on a headshell. Choose the 2M Blue Verso for headshells that require the cartridge to be secured from underneath. For low-profile tonearms and turntables, including many Rega models, the lower 2MR Blue may provide a better mechanical fit.
