Grado Labs Green4 – musical Moving Iron cartridge for your turntable

The Grado Labs Green4 is an accessible entry into the Prestige Series, combining Grado's characteristic musical presentation with a modern Moving Iron design. It features a 4 mV high-output generator, bonded elliptical diamond stylus, aluminium cantilever and an internal signal path using high-purity 5N OCC copper.

The Green4 is available in two mounting versions: the Green4 Standard Mount with universal ½-inch mounting and the Green4P P-Mount/T4P. Both follow the same core Prestige Series philosophy but are designed for different types of turntables and tonearms.

Standard Mount versus P-Mount: what is the difference?

• Standard Mount / ½ inch: the cartridge is attached to the headshell or tonearm with two screws. Overhang and cartridge alignment can be accurately adjusted. This is the normal choice for most traditional and modern hi-fi turntables using a universal ½-inch mounting system.
• P-Mount / T4P: designed for compatible P-Mount tonearms. The cartridge slides directly into the tonearm connection and is secured in position. Conventional cartridge alignment is normally unnecessary because the T4P system uses standardised geometry.

If your existing cartridge is fixed to the headshell with two screws, the Standard Mount version will normally be required. If the cartridge slides directly into a narrow tonearm connector, you will usually need the P-Mount/T4P version.

Elliptical diamond stylus

The Green4 features a bonded elliptical diamond stylus mounted on an aluminium cantilever. Its elliptical profile provides effective groove contact and accurate tracking, helping retrieve fine musical information while maintaining a stable and balanced presentation.

The stylus assembly is user replaceable, making long-term maintenance straightforward without having to replace the complete cartridge when the diamond eventually wears.

Grado Moving Iron technology

Grado cartridges use a Moving Iron design based on Joseph Grado's patented Flux-Bridger principle. This allows the moving mass to remain very low while the coil structure stays stationary. The result is a responsive signal with good control, stability and harmonic integrity.

With its approximately 4 mV output, the Green4 is a high-output design suitable for a wide range of phono stages intended for conventional high-output cartridges.
