The Clearaudio N2 MM is a versatile Moving Magnet cartridge designed for vinyl enthusiasts looking for a high-quality and practical upgrade for their turntable. It combines the proven generator technology of the Clearaudio N1 with a newly developed carbon-fibre-reinforced PETG body.
Weighing just 8.5 grams, with an output voltage of approximately 3.3 mV and a recommended tracking force of 2.2 grams, the N2 is suitable for use with a wide variety of tonearms. Its black finish gives the cartridge a clean and understated appearance.
The Clearaudio N2 uses an elliptically shaped diamond stylus mounted to an aluminium cantilever. The elliptical profile provides accurate contact with the record groove and is designed to retrieve fine musical information while maintaining reliable tracking performance.
The specified frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, while tracking ability is rated at 80 µm.
A key feature of the N2 is its newly developed PETG-CF cartridge body. Reinforcing PETG with carbon fibres provides high rigidity and helps control unwanted resonances within the cartridge structure.
At only 8.5 grams, the N2 is compatible with a broad selection of tonearms, making it suitable both for new turntable configurations and as an upgrade from an existing MM cartridge.
Clearaudio has equipped the N2 with an innovative plug-in stylus assembly. This allows the stylus to be replaced quickly and conveniently, even while the cartridge remains installed on the tonearm.
This makes regular maintenance considerably easier and means that stylus wear does not automatically require replacement of the complete cartridge.
With an output of approximately 3.3 mV, the Clearaudio N2 is designed for use with a suitable Moving Magnet phono input or MM phono preamplifier. The recommended load resistance is 47 kΩ with a specified capacitive load of 100 pF.
