Originally released in 1982, Thriller combines pop, funk, soul, disco and rock in an exceptionally varied and cohesive production. The album includes globally recognised songs such as Billie Jean, Beat It, Human Nature and the cinematic title track Thriller.
The recording is filled with carefully constructed musical details. Listen to the distinctive bass line in Billie Jean, the layered vocals and horns of Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, the delicate synthesiser textures in Human Nature and Eddie Van Halen’s powerful guitar solo on Beat It. A Hybrid SACD contains two separate information layers. The standard CD layer can be played on virtually any conventional CD player. The high-resolution SACD layer contains a stereo signal in the DSD format and requires an SACD player or compatible universal disc player.
You can therefore enjoy this edition even when you do not yet own an SACD player. A standard CD player automatically reads the CD layer, while a compatible SACD player provides access to the high-resolution DSD layer.
