Advance Acoustics X-Uni
The X-Uni bridges the gap between traditional sources and new digital media. This all-rounder combines a CD player, FM-RDS radio, DAB/DAB+ digital radio, Internet radio, Bluetooth aptX receiver, Network LAN/WLAN and both a digital/analogue and an analogue/digital converter into a multifunctional music source. Add two analogue aux, a digital optical and coaxial and a USB input and it is clear that the X-Uni offers unprecedented possibilities. For connection to an audio system or other audio components, there are also three outputs available: analogue RCA L/R, digital optical and coaxial.
In addition, the X-Uni can easily be connected to your home internet network, wired or wirelessly. Because the X-Uni uses the UPnP communication protocol, you can easily listen to internet radio or stored music files (MP3, WMA, AAC+, RealAudio, FLAC, PCM, WAV...) from your computer or NAS.
For operation, you can use the large 3.5 inch touch-screen display, which allows you to smoothly navigate through multilingual menus and submenus (including Dutch). You also have an infrared remote control at your disposal, but you can of course also control it with your tablet or smartphone using freely available UPnP apps. Via the built-in Bluetooth aptX receiver, you can wirelessly stream music from your tablet, smartphone or laptop to the X-Uni. The central LED display shows the selected source and, in CD mode, the track and time are displayed.
The sound quality also leaves nothing to be desired. Audiophile components were chosen, and the converters are from the high-quality manufacturer Cirrus Logic (DAC-CS8416 and CS8406 + PCM1802 for the ADC). An equalizer is available for tone control, offering a wide selection of presets and the ability to create your own (custom) settings. The sound levels of the various sources can also be adjusted to match each other.
If firmware updates become available, they will be automatically detected and notified when connected to the internet.
