The Ortofon 2M Red Premounted combines the popular 2M Red moving-magnet cartridge with a pre-mounted Ortofon SH-4 headshell. It can therefore be fitted quickly to a suitable S-shaped tonearm with a bayonet/SME connector. Its elliptical diamond stylus tracks the record groove accurately, delivering an open and dynamic presentation with a pleasantly subtle warmth. It is an excellent choice when you want a convenient turntable upgrade without first having to mount a separate cartridge onto a headshell.

Before purchasing, check that your tonearm has a standard bayonet/SME connector and supports the total weight of 16.7 grams. An S-shaped tonearm alone does not guarantee compatibility. After fitting the headshell, balance the tonearm and set the tracking force to 1.8 grams. Set anti-skating according to your turntable manual and verify the overhang and cartridge alignment. Use the cartridge with a 47 kΩ MM phono input and a recommended total load capacitance of 150-300 pF.
