The Ortofon 2M Blue Premounted is a high-quality Moving Magnet cartridge supplied pre-mounted on a black Ortofon SH-4 headshell. It is a convenient choice for turntables fitted with an S-shaped tonearm and a detachable SME or bayonet connection.
The key difference compared with the 2M Red is its Nude Elliptical diamond stylus. Because the diamond is mounted directly to the cantilever, it can follow the modulations in the record groove more accurately. This produces greater detail, improved dynamics, a more open stereo image and higher resolution.
With an output voltage of 5.5 mV, the 2M Blue works with virtually any conventional MM phono input. The recommended tracking force is 1.8 grams. After attaching the headshell, the tonearm must be rebalanced and the tracking force and anti-skating settings adjusted. Alignment and overhang should also be checked for optimum performance.
