The Volumio Rivo Plus, also known as the Rivo+, is designed for listeners who want to feed their external DAC with the cleanest and most accurate digital signal possible. This enhanced version of the award-winning Rivo features a dedicated ASIC for S/PDIF and AES/EBU, upgraded MEMS clocks and I²S/DSD over HDMI. It is an excellent digital source for a high-performance streaming audio system.

One of the major upgrades over the original Rivo is the dedicated ASIC responsible for generating the coaxial S/PDIF and AES/EBU signals. This allows the main processor to be relieved of this critical task. Combined with high-quality MEMS clocks and low-noise voltage regulators, the digital output circuitry is engineered for excellent signal integrity.
Rivo Plus also includes I²S/DSD over HDMI. With a compatible DAC this enables a direct I²S connection. As HDMI-I²S pin configurations can vary between DAC manufacturers, compatibility should always be checked before using this connection.

The Volumio Rivo Plus is particularly suitable for high-quality hi-fi systems that already use a separate DAC. The Rivo Plus does not contain an analogue audio output; it connects digitally to your DAC by USB, coaxial S/PDIF, AES/EBU or I²S over HDMI.
If your DAC offers several digital inputs, comparing the different connections in your own system can be worthwhile. When using I²S, always check that the HDMI-I²S pin configuration of your DAC is compatible with the Rivo Plus.
