A phono cartridge produces an extremely small output signal, making the connection between the cartridge and headshell particularly important. The Ortofon LW-800S is a premium set of four headshell leads featuring hybrid conductors made from 4N pure silver and silver-plated oxygen-free copper. Rhodium-plated terminals provide a secure, durable connection while helping to preserve the delicate cartridge signal.

Ortofon recommends connecting the leads to the cartridge and headshell before mounting the cartridge. Red and green are used for the right channel, while white and blue are used for the left channel. The terminals are designed to fit securely and may feel tight to prevent accidental disconnection or poor contact. Never force a terminal onto a pin.
The LW-800S is designed to match Ortofon LH-series headshells. When used with an Ortofon SH-2 or SH-4, the 1.0 mm headshell-side terminal may need to be carefully widened to fit the 1.2 mm headshell pins. If you are unsure, have this adjustment performed by a specialist.
