The Ortofon LW 7N is a premium set of lead wires designed for the short signal connection between a phono cartridge and headshell. Ortofon combines ultra-high-purity 7N and 6N copper conductors with rhodium-plated terminals to create a carefully engineered connection for demanding analogue systems. With a cable length of 35 mm, the LW 7N is suitable for many common headshell arrangements and makes an excellent choice when installing or upgrading a quality turntable cartridge.

Ortofon uses red and green for the right channel: red for the hot or positive connection and green for ground. White and blue are used for the left channel: white for the hot or positive connection and blue for ground. Ortofon recommends connecting the lead wires to both cartridge and headshell before finally mounting the cartridge to the headshell.
Pay close attention to terminal pin diameter during installation. Ortofon cartridge terminals and the SH-4 use 1.2 mm pins, whereas the pins on many other Ortofon headshells are normally approximately 1.0 mm. When using the LW 7N with the SH-4, the clamp on the headshell side may therefore need to be widened slightly. Do this carefully and never force the connection, as excessive pressure can damage the cartridge terminal pins.
