Acoustic Live captures Nils Lofgren during an intimate acoustic concert centred around his distinctive voice, expressive guitar playing and close connection with the audience. Spread across two 180g LPs, this edition contains 17 tracks, including “Keith Don’t Go”, “Black Books”, “No Mercy” and “You”.
This audiophile vinyl edition from Analogue Productions was remastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound. It was plated and pressed at Quality Record Pressings and comes in a premium Stoughton Printing old-style tip-on gatefold jacket.
The concert was originally recorded digitally at 44.1kHz/16-bit, so this is not an all-analogue AAA production. The quality of this edition comes from the excellent original recording, careful remastering and high-quality vinyl pressing. Ryan Smith prepared the material at Sterling Sound specifically for this reissue.
Acoustic Live was recorded on 18 January 1997 at The Barns at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia. Nils Lofgren performed with Tom Lofgren and Paul Bell, with guest appearances by Michael Lofgren and Mark Lofgren. The restrained acoustic setting gives the voices, guitars and natural ambience of the venue plenty of room.
The additional weight makes a 180g LP physically robust and stable during playback. The final sound is determined primarily by the recording, mastering and pressing quality. It is the combination of these factors that makes Acoustic Live especially appealing to listeners who value acoustic music and high-quality vinyl reproduction.
