FiiO K17 R2R – a complete desktop DAC, streamer and headphone hub

The FiiO K17 R2R is designed as a central component for listeners who want high-quality digital conversion, network playback and headphone amplification in one substantial desktop unit. Its defining feature is FiiO’s proprietary 24+5-bit segmented R2R PRO DAC, developed to combine the smooth, natural presentation associated with resistor-ladder conversion with the convenience of a modern connected audio system. Inside, the digital, analogue and power-supply sections are separated to reduce unwanted interaction between circuits. The linear power supply, dedicated power domains, low-phase-noise femtosecond oscillators and fully differential signal path are intended to maintain stable timing and clean signal transfer. Connectivity includes USB-A, USB-B, optical, coaxial, stereo RCA and balanced XLR, alongside 6.35mm, balanced 4.4mm and four-pin balanced XLR headphone outputs. DSD256 playback and Bluetooth 5.1 with SBC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive and LDAC provide broad source compatibility.

The fully discrete Class AB headphone amplifier is built to accommodate both sensitive in-ear monitors and more demanding full-size headphones, allowing the K17 R2R to serve several listening setups without adding a separate amplifier. A 31-band lossless parametric equaliser with 64-bit floating-point processing gives users detailed control over frequency response, while AUTO EQ can apply an appropriate curve for compatible headphone models. Presets may be saved, shared, imported or exported, making it practical to maintain different profiles for headphones, speakers and music styles.
