With Love Over Gold, Dire Straits adopted a more ambitious and atmospheric sound in 1982. Its five extended compositions range from the cinematic development of “Telegraph Road” to the controlled tension of “Private Investigations”. This numbered Mobile Fidelity edition was sourced from the original master tapes. Rob LoVerde handled the mastering with assistance from Shawn R. Britton, allowing the layered arrangements, dramatic contrasts and Mark Knopfler's distinctive guitar work to emerge with exceptional clarity and spaciousness.

Dire Straits' fourth studio album contains only five tracks but uses that space for extended musical development and subtle changes in texture. Acoustic and electric guitars are joined by synthesisers, marimba and vibraphone. The MFSL mastering highlights instrument placement, space and dynamic contrast while retaining the recording's restrained atmosphere.
A Hybrid SACD combines two readable layers on one disc. The CD layer is intended for a standard CD player, while the high-resolution SACD layer requires an SACD-compatible player. This allows the same release to be enjoyed with different audio systems.
