The Clearaudio N1 is a high-quality Moving Magnet cartridge designed to bring Clearaudio engineering and build quality to a broad range of vinyl enthusiasts. Its solid aluminium body, elliptical stylus and carefully matched MM generator provide a strong foundation for accurate and musical vinyl reproduction.
The Clearaudio N1 is available in black and silver, making it easy to visually match the cartridge to your turntable and tonearm. Clearaudio developed the N1 as a particularly suitable partner for the Clearaudio Compass, while its specifications also make it an interesting option for other technically compatible turntables and tonearms.
The N1 features a newly developed, anodised aluminium cartridge body. This provides a stable structural frame for the cartridge and contributes to a controlled mechanical construction.
With a total mass of approximately 12.5 grams, it is important to check that your tonearm and counterweight can correctly accommodate the mass of the cartridge.
The Clearaudio N1 uses an elliptical stylus combined with an aluminium cantilever. The elliptical profile is designed to follow the information stored in the record groove accurately and contributes to detailed reproduction and precise stereo imaging.
Clearaudio specifies a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, channel separation of 20 dB at 1 kHz and a tracking ability of 80 µm.
The N1 uses the familiar Moving Magnet (MM) principle and provides an output voltage of approximately 2.9 mV at 1 kHz and 5 cm/s. It is intended for use with a suitable MM phono input or MM phono preamplifier.
Clearaudio specifies a load resistance of 47 kΩ and a load capacitance of 100 pF.
A particularly practical feature of the Clearaudio N1 is its innovative plug-in stylus carrier system. The stylus carrier can be replaced relatively easily without immediately replacing the entire cartridge.
This service-friendly design simplifies maintenance and makes the N1 an attractive long-term choice for vinyl enthusiasts.
Clearaudio recommends a tracking force of 2.2 grams with a tolerance of ± 0.3 grams. Correct cartridge alignment, tracking force and anti-skating adjustment are important for optimum tracking performance and for limiting unnecessary wear on both the stylus and records.
Both versions are technically identical, allowing you to choose the finish that best complements your turntable and tonearm.
