The AudioQuest Carbon 48 is a premium Ultra High Speed HDMI cable designed for modern TVs, projectors, AV receivers, soundbars, media players and game consoles. With bandwidth up to 48Gbps, Carbon 48 supports 8K at 60Hz, 4K at 120Hz, Dynamic HDR and eARC. AudioQuest also specifies support for video resolutions up to professional 10K Ultra HD.
Within the AudioQuest HDMI range, Carbon 48 stands out through its solid Long-Grain Copper conductors with 5% silver plating and AudioQuest Level-3 Noise-Dissipation. This construction is designed to manage radio-frequency noise and interference around the high-speed signal conductors.
AudioQuest Carbon 48 provides bandwidth up to 48Gbps. Four balanced audio/video pairs are capable of carrying up to 12Gbps each, providing the bandwidth required for demanding HDMI applications including 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz.
Carbon 48 is certified Ultra High Speed by HDMI Licensing and is also backward compatible with existing 4K equipment.
A key feature of Carbon 48 is the use of solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors with 5% silver plating. AudioQuest uses solid conductors to avoid interaction between individual wire strands. The silver plating is applied to further optimise conductor performance at the very high frequencies used by HDMI signals.
The dedicated eARC conductor pair also uses solid conductors with 5% silver plating.
HDMI transmits signals at extremely high frequencies. Carbon 48 therefore uses AudioQuest Level-3 Noise-Dissipation. In addition to direction-controlled conductors, a high-loss carbon layer is positioned between metal layers around the four FRL pairs and the eARC pair.
This Carbon Mesh-Network is designed to further dissipate radio-frequency noise and reduce interference around the main signal conductors. All 19 conductors are direction-controlled by AudioQuest for efficient RF-noise dissipation.
AudioQuest Carbon 48 supports eARC, or Enhanced Audio Return Channel. A compatible television can therefore return an audio signal through the same HDMI connection to an AV receiver or soundbar.
The increased bandwidth available through eARC enables modern high-quality audio connections when the connected equipment and source support the relevant functions.
In addition to high resolutions and frame rates, Carbon 48 supports Dynamic HDR. With compatible equipment, HDR information can be processed dynamically. Its 48Gbps bandwidth makes Carbon 48 suitable for demanding modern AV installations.
