Before "Full House" caused a stir, The Wes Montgomery Trio was already setting the tone. The album "A Dynamic New Sound: Guitar/Organ/Drums," released in 1959, marked Montgomery's debut on Riverside Records—and it's clear he didn't make a cautious entrance, but took to the stage with conviction. With his characteristic thumb technique, octave playing, and exceptionally warm tone, he made an immediate impression. Jazz enthusiasts responded enthusiastically, and critics described the album as fresh, contemporary, and innovative. Montgomery's style, combining bluesy soul with impressive technical mastery, immediately found an audience. It was not just a strong debut but a clear artistic statement that also achieved commercial success and accelerated Montgomery's breakthrough in the jazz world.

The subtitle says it all: guitar, organ, and drums—nothing more. No bass, no horns, no safety net. Just Wes Montgomery on guitar, the often-underrated Melvin Rhyne on Hammond B-3, and Paul Parker on drums. The result is a lean, soulful sound that essentially formed the blueprint for the jazz organ trio we know today. Montgomery's tone combines warmth with tension, Rhyne's organ playing connects church influences with a nightclub atmosphere, and Parker's drumming subtly but surely supports the whole. "A Dynamic New Sound: Guitar/Organ/Drums" was a bold choice that truly came into its own because the musicians listened intently to each other, played harmoniously, and gave Montgomery the space to shine. The recording exudes the joy of playing and the energy of three musicians who were conscious of creating something special.

As part of the Analogue Productions Fantasy 45 Series, "A Dynamic New Sound: Guitar/Organ/Drums" is now being honored with a sonically superb reissue, meticulously mastered by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman at Acoustech Mastering. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry-leading Quality Record Pressings (QRP) and cut at 45 rpm, the double LP comes housed in a classic Stoughton Printing tip-on gatefold sleeve with a durable matte finish.
