The Doors - The Doors on Hybrid Multichannel SACD

The self-titled 1967 debut The Doors is one of the defining rock albums of the 1960s. This audiophile Analogue Productions edition is presented on Hybrid Multichannel SACD, combining high-quality stereo and multichannel playback. Mastering was handled by Doug Sax using an all-tube mastering system and overseen by original Doors producer and engineer Bruce Botnick.

An iconic debut in audiophile quality

Featuring classics including Break On Through (To The Other Side), Light My Fire, The Crystal Ship and the epic The End, the album immediately established The Doors as one of the distinctive voices of the era. Jim Morrison's vocals, Ray Manzarek's keyboards, Robby Krieger's guitar and John Densmore's drums create the band's unmistakable sound.

The original album was recorded on 4-track equipment. As a result, the surround element of this multichannel presentation is primarily intended to add room ambience and spatial information to the recording.

Hybrid Multichannel SACD

This release contains both a conventional CD layer and a high-resolution SACD layer. The CD layer plays on standard CD players, while access to the high-resolution stereo and multichannel SACD programmes requires an SACD-compatible player.

The multichannel programme is sourced from the original 96 kHz/24-bit mixes created by Bruce Botnick for the Doors/Perception release. For SACD, these mixes were converted to DSD without filtering using a Weiss Saracon converter and authored by Gus Skinas at the Super Audio Center.
