Audiophile fuse in 5 × 20 mm format with a four-part UEF metamaterial, developed for a spacious, fluid presentation. Select the exact current rating and slow- or fast-blow type required. Read more.
The Synergistic Research Holographic Fuse 5 × 20 mm is intended for listeners who want to fine-tune the power path of a compatible hi-fi component. Its four-part UEF metamaterial formulation originated during development of the Quark streamer. According to Synergistic Research, it is voiced for a larger, more fluid soundstage with ample air and resolution without a sharp or fatiguing character. This fuse is offered in slow-blow and fast-blow versions across multiple current ratings. Use only the version that exactly matches the equipment manufacturer’s specification.

Switch the equipment off completely and disconnect it from the mains before opening the fuse holder. Check the original fuse and the equipment manual. Use only a fuse with the same dimensions, current rating, blow characteristic and all other electrical specifications prescribed by the equipment manufacturer. Never install a higher-rated fuse or bypass the fuse holder. If in doubt, have the replacement carried out by a qualified service technician. To compare the directionality described by Synergistic Research, switch off and unplug the equipment again before reversing the fuse.
According to Synergistic Research, Holographic Fuses are directional. When viewing the fuse, the manufacturer recommends an installation direction in which the current flows from left to right. If the direction of current flow inside your component is unknown, you can compare the fuse in both orientations. According to Synergistic Research, the orientation that produces the more detailed presentation is the preferred direction. Always switch the equipment off completely and disconnect it from the mains before removing or reversing the fuse.
Yes. According to Synergistic Research, the fuses require a settling or burn-in period. The first 200 to 300 hours of use are considered the most important. During this period, the sound presentation may continue to stabilise gradually.
If you are starting with one Holographic Fuse, Synergistic Research recommends trying it first in a DAC, preamplifier or amplifier. You can then add one fuse at a time and assess the result in each component. Within the complete SR fuse architecture, the manufacturer recommends one Master Fuse near the beginning of the signal path and Holographic Fuses in the remaining positions. In a digital system, the Master Fuse can be installed in the DAC; in an analogue system, it can be used in the phono stage or power amplifier. If you use multiple sources, installing a fuse in the preamplifier may influence the performance of every connected source. Always use the exact dimensions, current rating and blow characteristic specified by the equipment manufacturer.
