The Sonaris Audio Vienna Amp is a fully discrete, fully balanced Class A headphone amplifier and preamplifier with precision R2R volume control, 4.4 mm balanced output and up to 5.28 W of power. Read more.
The Sonaris Audio Vienna Amp is designed for demanding headphone enthusiasts looking for high power, precise control and uncompromising analogue amplification. This high-end headphone amplifier combines a fully discrete circuit with a fully balanced architecture, precision R2R volume control and true Class A amplification.
The Vienna Amp can also operate as a high-quality preamplifier, making it suitable not only as the centre of a premium headphone system but also for driving active loudspeakers or a separate power amplifier. Discover more products from Sonaris Audio at Hi-Stands.
Sonaris uses a fully discrete amplifier topology in the Vienna Amp. Combined with true Class A operation, the design is focused on precise and controlled amplification of the incoming analogue audio signal.
The fully balanced architecture extends to the 4.4 mm headphone output. In High Gain, the Vienna Amp delivers up to an impressive 5280 mW into 32 ohms through its balanced output, providing substantial power reserves for a wide range of dynamic and planar-magnetic headphones.
Volume is controlled by a precision R2R volume control system. A multifunction rotary control on the front panel provides access to volume, input selection, Gain and operating modes.
The front panel offers both a conventional 6.35 mm unbalanced headphone output and a 4.4 mm balanced headphone output. Both outputs have a low output impedance of just 1 ohm.
Selectable Low Gain and High Gain allow the amplifier to be adapted to different headphones and IEMs, from more sensitive models to demanding high-end headphones requiring considerably more power.
The Vienna Amp is more than a dedicated headphone amplifier. Through the settings menu it can be switched to Preamp Mode. RCA and balanced 6.35 mm TRS preamplifier outputs are provided on the rear panel.
This allows the Sonaris Vienna Amp to be connected directly to active loudspeakers or a separate power amplifier. The RCA preamp output has an impedance of 200 ohms, while the balanced TRS preamp output has an impedance of 100 ohms.
Analogue sources can be connected using either RCA or balanced 6.35 mm TRS inputs. The Vienna Amp can therefore be paired with a high-quality external DAC, network player, CD player or another line-level audio source.
Please note: this Sonaris Vienna Amp is the analogue version. The integrated USB DAC is a feature of the separate Sonaris Vienna DAC Amp. Digital sources therefore require an external DAC when used with this Vienna Amp.
Both headphone outputs have a specified frequency response of 20 Hz to 80 kHz within ±0.05 dB. Through the 4.4 mm balanced output, THD+N is specified at less than 0.00022% at 1 kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 116 dB at 600 ohms.
