The Michell Engineering TecnoWeight is a high-quality upgrade for Rega arm users looking to maximize control and sound quality from their turntable. Originally designed for the Michell TecnoArm, this upgrade is also compatible with the Rega RB-250, RB-300, RB-600 , and other Rega-based OEM arms. In keeping with Michell's low center of gravity philosophy—as seen in their sub-chassis designs and turntable platter bearing—the arm's counterweight has also been optimized for maximum audio performance.
The unique design of the TecnoWeight shifts the counterweight's center of gravity to a point level with the stylus tip, which offers several acoustic advantages. For example, stylus pressure remains more consistent with slightly warped records, the arm bearings are loaded more evenly, tracking is improved, and the effective mass of the arm is reduced. All this results in better groove contact, less distortion, and reduced wear on both the stylus and the vinyl.
Another major advantage over the standard Rega weights is the precision of the stylus pressure adjustment. While the original Rega scale is quite coarse, the TecnoWeight offers finer readability in 0.1-gram increments, and even adjustment down to 0.05 grams is possible. The set comes with two counterweights: one for cartridges from 3–6 grams, and one for 6–16 grams.
