A memorable debut album: at the time of its release, when Motown issued “Got To Be There” on January 24, 1972, Michael Jackson was only 13 years old. He was still active with the Jackson 5, but this debut already revealed new facets of his exceptional vocal talent. The album includes the singles “Gotta Be There”, “Rockin’ Robin” and “I Wanna Be Where You Are” and sold approximately 2.2 million copies worldwide. Most successful, however, was Jackson’s cover version of “Rockin’ Robin” (Carole King), which sold more than 2 million copies in the United States alone.

Universal Music Japan now presents a strictly limited LP reissue of “Got To Be There” – pressed on orange 180-gram vinyl at 33 RPM. The album comes with an OBI strip and includes a booklet with liner notes and lyrics.
