The title song of the film Ben – Ben’s Theme – reached number 1 on the US charts seven months after Michael Jackson’s debut album Got To Be There. In the story, in which a sick boy forms a friendship with a rat that is shunned by the villagers, Michael Jackson, who loved this film very much, was able to naturally identify with the character. Although he was only 13 years old at the time of its release, he strengthened his status as a singer with his second album, released on August 4, 1972 by Motown Records. Ben was produced by Hal Davis and recorded between November 1971 and February 1972 at the Motown Recording Studios in Hollywood, California.
Universal Music Japan now presents a strictly limited LP reissue of Ben – pressed on light blue 180-gram vinyl at 33 RPM. The album comes with an OBI strip and includes a booklet with liner notes and lyrics.
