Three world-premiere recordings! The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Michael Butterman performs the fascinating music of renowned Cuban pianist and composer Aldo López-Gavilán. López-Gavilán, praised by the Seattle Times for his “brilliant technique and rhythmic passion” and described by The Times (London) as an “impressive virtuoso,” excels in both the classical and jazz worlds as a recitalist, concerto soloist, chamber musician, and interpreter of his own compelling compositions. The album includes Emporium for Piano and Orchestra, Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra, and Hechizos (Spells) for Solo Piano. The soloists are Aldo López-Gavilán on piano and Ricardo Morales on clarinet.
In recent years, Reference Recordings has been responsible for numerous award-winning CDs, SACDs, and LPs spanning classical, jazz, blues, and world music. All releases are recorded with the conviction that the sound of a recording is just as important as the music itself.
