Laudate! – captivating Baroque music on 180g HQ vinyl

Laudate! is an audiophile reissue of one of the most highly regarded choral recordings from the Swedish Proprius label. Conducted by Anders Eby, the Uppsala Academy Chamber Choir and Drottningholms Baroque Ensemble combine natural choral voices, period instruments and the distinctive acoustics of St John’s Church in Stockholm.

The seven works come from the Düben Collection, an extensive collection of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music held by Uppsala University Library. Its accessible performances and exceptionally realistic recording quality made Laudate! one of the label’s major commercial successes.

Audiophile AudioNautes reissue

AudioNautes created this edition from a historical safety copy of the original stereo master tape. Scott Hull completed the mastering and lacquer cutting at Masterdisk, while Optimal Media pressed the album on 180g black HQ vinyl.

The 33⅓ rpm LP is supplied in a sturdy, luxurious gatefold sleeve with additional liner notes by Fabio Camorani. Only the first 500 copies of this limited edition carry an individual sequential number.

Recording and performance

Bertil Alving recorded Laudate! on 4 and 5 February and 6 June 1978. The engineer, also responsible for the celebrated Cantate Domino recording, regarded Laudate! as his finest recording for Proprius. This edition is therefore ideal for lovers of Baroque music and discerning listeners wishing to evaluate natural timbres, spatial imaging and choral reproduction.
