The JICO Clipper is an innovative Moving Magnet (MM) cartridge developed for discerning vinyl enthusiasts. Combining JICO's extensive experience in precision stylus manufacturing with an entirely original cartridge design, the Clipper represents a distinctive approach to analogue music reproduction. Its nude conical diamond stylus, specially tapered aluminium S-cantilever and ApexGlide headshell work together to deliver a natural, balanced and detailed listening experience.
Designed and developed in Japan, the Clipper combines traditional analogue engineering with modern construction techniques. Particular attention has been paid to clarity and musical expression across the midrange and higher frequencies.
Unlike a conventional replacement cartridge, the Clipper was developed as an entirely original JICO design. The manufacturer conducted extensive listening tests using different stylus constructions before selecting a nude conical diamond combined with its tapered aluminium cantilever.
According to JICO, this combination offers particularly clear reproduction through the midrange and upper frequencies. The result is a cartridge designed to provide a natural and engaging listening experience across a wide range of musical styles.
One of the Clipper's most distinctive features is the ApexGlide headshell. Its finger lift is positioned along the central axis rather than at the outer edge. JICO developed this arrangement with balance and centre of gravity in mind.
The standard Clipper is designed for suitable S-shaped and J-shaped tonearms with a removable universal headshell connection. For straight tonearms, JICO offers the separately developed Clipper-S.
The Clipper offers considerable flexibility when selecting a replacement stylus. Alongside the dedicated Clipper stylus, several compatible JICO 44-series stylus models can be used. This allows listeners to explore different stylus designs and tailor the listening experience to their preferences.
The original Clipper stylus provides the manufacturer's intended combination. When fitting an alternative stylus, always check its individual specifications and recommended tracking force.
