Jen Chapin, daughter of “Cats In The Cradle” singer Harry Chapin, is a New York-based urban folk singer, songwriter, and activist with a strong commitment to social justice. In 2008, accompanied by her husband, bassist Stephan Crump, and saxophonist Chris Cheek, she created the album “ReVisions”, on which she reinterpreted songs by Stevie Wonder as a musical contribution to Barack Obama’s historic rise to the presidency of the United States. “ReVisions” stands as both a testament to Chapin’s distinctive artistic sensibility and a tribute to the enduring appeal and relevance of Wonder’s songwriting. The album also features two compositions written by Chapin herself.
“ReVisions” is a unique gem within the Chesky Records catalogue. As part of the “Chesky Original Masters” series, Evosound now presents an outstanding reissue of this wonderful album: the hybrid SACD brilliantly showcases Chesky’s renowned production and recording techniques and comes with a booklet including new liner notes as well as a recent interview with Jen Chapin.
