Jen Chapin, daughter of the singer of “Cats In The Cradle,” Harry Chapin, is a New York-based urban folk singer, songwriter, and activist with a strong commitment to social justice. In 2008, accompanied by her husband, bassist Stephan Crump, and saxophonist Chris Cheek, she created the album “ReVisions,” on which she reinterpreted songs by Stevie Wonder to contribute musically to Barack Obama’s historic rise to the presidency of the United States. “ReVisions” is both a testament to Chapin’s distinctive artistic sensibility and a tribute to the enduring appeal and relevance of Wonder’s songwriting. The album also includes two compositions written by Chapin herself.
“ReVisions” is a unique gem within the Chesky Records catalog. As part of the “Chesky Original Masters” series, Evosound now presents an outstanding reissue of this wonderful album: the 180-gram vinyl (33 rpm) has been pressed using the sonically superior One-Step process, brilliantly showcasing Chesky’s renowned production and recording techniques, and comes complete with new liner notes as well as a recent interview with Jen Chapin.
