The fourth album by Michael, Jermaine, Marlon, Tito and Jackie was released by Motown on April 12, 1971. The album followed the success of the hit ballad “I’ll Be There”. Most of the tracks on the album are ballads, with only a few up-tempo numbers. The album includes the hit singles “Never Can Say Goodbye” and “Maybe Tomorrow”. Although it was not as commercially successful as the first three Jackson 5 albums, “Maybe Tomorrow” features some of the most sampled and most covered songs in the group’s repertoire. The album also spent six weeks at number 1 on the US Soul Album Charts and sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide. The advance single “Never Can Say Goodbye” reached number 1 on both the pop and R&B charts and expanded the expressive range of Michael’s energetic vocals.
Universal Music Japan now presents a strictly limited LP reissue of “Maybe Tomorrow” – pressed on high-quality, light green 180-gram vinyl at 33 RPM. The album comes with an OBI strip and includes a booklet with liner notes and lyrics.
