The Red4 is intended for listeners who need to replace a worn or damaged stylus without immediately purchasing an entirely new cartridge. Only the removable stylus assembly is replaced, allowing the existing cartridge body to remain in use.
The Grado Red4 uses a bonded diamond with an elliptical profile. Its elliptical shape follows the modulations in the record groove more accurately than a basic spherical stylus. This helps voices, instruments and subtle musical information sound clear and controlled.
The diamond is mounted on a lightweight aluminium cantilever. This construction supports stable stylus movement and the balanced transfer of groove information to the cartridge generator.

The Red4 stylus is designed as the genuine replacement stylus for the Grado Prestige Red4 cartridge. According to Grado, stylus assemblies within the Prestige Series are interchangeable. This allows the Red4 to be installed in a range of compatible Prestige cartridge bodies.
Final sound quality and optimum tracking force also depend on the cartridge body, tonearm and turntable setup. When fitting the Red4 to a different Prestige cartridge body, always follow the recommended settings for that particular cartridge.
Please note: this product includes the replaceable stylus assembly only. A complete phono cartridge is not included.
The stylus assembly can be replaced by the user. Switch off the turntable, secure the tonearm and carefully remove the existing stylus from the cartridge body. Insert the new Red4 without touching the cantilever or diamond. Check the tracking force and other turntable settings before playing a record.
