Experience superior sound with the Furutech AG-12-L phono cable. Silver-plated conductors, rhodium connectors, and quad shielding. Read more.
The Furutech AG-12-L is a premium 1.2-metre phono cable designed for the highly sensitive connection between a compatible turntable or tonearm and a phono preamplifier. This version features a right-angle L-DIN connector at the tonearm end and two RCA connectors at the output end.
The output signal generated by a phono cartridge is extremely small compared with a conventional line-level signal. This makes effective shielding, high-quality conductors and reliable connections especially important. Furutech developed the AG-12-L according to its Pure Transmission philosophy to minimise unwanted interference and signal degradation throughout the connection.
At the heart of the Furutech AG-12-L are silver-plated α (Alpha) μ-OFC conductors. This construction combines high-quality oxygen-free copper with a silver-plated surface and is designed for efficient transmission of the delicate signal generated by a phono cartridge.
Furutech's Pure Transmission approach addresses factors including contact resistance, grounding, EMI and RFI rejection and mechanical stability. These factors are particularly relevant in a phono connection because the cartridge signal subsequently requires substantial amplification.
The AG-12-L uses a four-layer shielding construction to improve protection against external electrical and electromagnetic interference. Effective shielding is especially valuable around turntables, where unwanted hum and radio-frequency interference can become audible after phono amplification.
Air-foamed polyethylene is used as the main insulation material. Furutech also employs carefully selected damping and insulating materials to help control mechanically and electrically induced distortion.
The AG-12-L differs from the standard AG-12 through its right-angle L-DIN connector. It is therefore intended for turntables and tonearms equipped with a compatible 5-pin DIN/L-DIN connection.
The L-DIN connector is rhodium plated, while the output end uses Furutech's FP-126(R) Alpha-OCC RCA connectors, also featuring rhodium-plated contacts. A carefully engineered cable clamp improves mechanical grip and helps reduce unwanted mechanical and electrically induced distortion.
The Furutech AG-12-L is particularly suitable for high-quality analogue systems where the turntable, cartridge, tonearm and phono stage already operate at a high level. Its combination of carefully selected conductors, extensive shielding and premium Furutech connectors makes it a logical upgrade for demanding vinyl playback systems.
Furutech is a Japanese high-end audio manufacturer known for premium cables, connectors and power and signal accessories. Its Pure Transmission philosophy focuses on material quality, contact integrity, shielding and mechanical construction to minimise unwanted loss, distortion and interference.
