Numbered MFSL UltraDisc One-Step edition of Donald Fagen's Kamakiriad on two 180g LPs at 45RPM, strictly limited to 4,000 copies. Read more.
Kamakiriad is Donald Fagen's second solo album, originally released in 1993. The futuristic concept album follows a traveller driving his advanced Kamakiri roadster and combines Fagen's distinctive songwriting with funky rhythms, sophisticated horn arrangements and meticulous production. The collaboration with producer Walter Becker also marked the creative reunion of the two principal musicians behind Steely Dan.
Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab presents the album as a numbered UltraDisc One-Step edition on two 180g LPs. The records play at 45RPM and are pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing. The worldwide edition is strictly limited to only 4,000 numbered copies.

Conventional vinyl manufacturing uses several plating stages between the original lacquer and the final production stamper. The UltraDisc One-Step process removes the usual father and mother plates. A stamper is made directly from each lacquer, eliminating two production generations and reducing the potential for generational loss during the plating process.
MFSL sourced this reissue from the original masters. Mobile Fidelity specifies a mastering chain running from a PCM digital master through an analogue console to the cutting lathe. Mastering was completed by Krieg Wunderlich, with the two 180g records subsequently manufactured at Fidelity Record Pressing.
The 45RPM speed provides more groove length per second than a conventional 33⅓RPM LP. This format is designed to support precise imaging, clear separation between voices and instruments and a wide dynamic range.
