Barry White - The Ultimate Collection brings together eighteen celebrated soul, R&B and disco recordings on a premium Hybrid SACD. This edition from Universal Music Hong Kong was manufactured in Japan, individually numbered and limited to only 1,000 copies.
The collection includes worldwide favourites such as You’re The First, The Last, My Everything, Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe, Let The Music Play, Never, Never Gonna Give You Up and Love’s Theme. It provides an extensive overview of the warm vocals, romantic arrangements and distinctive soul and disco sound that made Barry White an enduring music icon.
Barry White became one of the most recognisable voices in soul, R&B and disco during the 1970s. His deep baritone voice, rich string arrangements and relaxed grooves gave his recordings an unmistakable identity. In addition to his successful solo career, he also played an important role as a composer, arranger and producer for the Love Unlimited Orchestra.
The Ultimate Collection combines romantic ballads with danceable soul and disco productions. Its selection ranges from early classics to recordings from later stages of White’s career. A Hybrid SACD therefore combines broad playback compatibility with the higher resolution and refinement of the SACD format. A standard CD player automatically reads the CD layer, while a compatible SACD player provides access to the high-resolution DSD layer.
